Premier Responds to Senate Pandemic Preparedness Bill

Premier provided detailed comments on Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee leaders discussion draft of the Prepare for and Respond to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act (PREVENT Pandemics Act). As advocated by Premier, the bill includes provisions to strengthen the Strategic National Stockpile, expand domestic manufacturing, improve syndromic and virologic surveillance, mitigate drug and device shortages, and maintain supply chain integrity.

Premier also recommended additions to the legislation to modernize the nation’s supply chain data infrastructure, incentivize domestic manufacturing, and expand clinical surveillance technology in nursing homes, among other provisions to help prepare our nation for the next public health emergency.
