Premier Asks Congress to Prevent Medicaid DSH Cuts

Premier joined eight other national hospital organizations in urging Congressional leaders to stop the reductions to the Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) program that are scheduled to begin in fiscal year (FY) 2024. It is estimated that the 2,500 hospitals in the Medicaid DSH program would face $8 billion in reductions starting on Oct. 1, 2023.

In a letter, Premier and the other hospital groups asked House and Senate leaders to prevent these cuts, underscoring the financial hardship they would place on already strained hospitals serving vulnerable communities.

51 Senators and 230 Representatives have also urged Congressional leadership to prevent these cuts.
