Premier Calls for Cybersecurity Funding as Part of Hospital Preparedness Program

Premier submitted comments to the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) in response to a Request for Information on the funding formula for the agency's Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP). The HPP provides funding to groups of hospitals for emergency preparedness to prevent and mitigate disruptions in healthcare delivery.

In its letter, Premier encouraged ASPR to explicitly include cybersecurity and supply chain threats as elements of the HPP funding formula, which would increase the resources available to hospitals commensurate with today’s threat landscape. Premier also recommended that ASPR work more closely with federal partners, including the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the FBI, National Security Agency (NSA), and Department of Defense, to understand the pressing, multi-dimensional threat that cybersecurity poses to America’s healthcare delivery systems. In addition, Premier urged ASPR to ensure that private sector stakeholders, including hospitals, health systems and other providers, have a seat at the table for federal cybersecurity policy development, implementation and funding.
