CMS recently proposed an indefinite delay to the start of the mandatory Radiation Oncology Model. The program tests prospective episode-based payment for radiation therapy. In comments to CMS, Premier urged the agency to cease the model and focus on developing models that focus on total cost of care or broader cancer models.
If CMS moves forward with the model, it will provide at least six months’ notice.
