Premier Offers House Committee Recommendations to Prepare for the Next Pandemic

Premier submitted a statement for the House Oversight Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic hearing titled “Preparing for the Next Pandemic: Lessons Learned and The Path Forward.” In its statement, Premier emphasized the critical need to enhance the resiliency and diversity of the U.S. healthcare supply chain, which has faced unprecedented and compounding challenges over the past four years. Premier’s recommendations include:

  • Incentivizing domestic manufacturing of critical medical supplies by leveraging tax credits, differential reimbursement for providers and expedited Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review, inspections and communications;
  • Allowing the establishment of trusted trade partnerships to better support growth and investment in nearshore manufacturing and diverse sourcing; and
  • Reauthorizing the Pandemic and All Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) and including impactful policies, such as provisions to modernize the supply chain data.
