Premier Offers Recommendations on COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Flexibilities

The public health emergency (PHE) will extend through at least July 15, 2022. HHS has indicated that it would begin phasing out select pandemic-related flexibilities applicable to skilled nursing facilities and nursing facilities, inpatient hospices, intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and end-stage renal disease facilities.

In anticipation of this winddown, Premier offered recommendations on how CMS should use its and the Innovation Center’s authority to maintain or expand waivers.
