Premier Recommends Actions to Bolster the Healthcare Supply Chain, Accelerate Vaccinations for House Energy and Commerce Committee Hearings

Premier submitted a statement for the record for today’s House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee’s hearing, "Road to Recovery: Ramping Up COVID-19 Vaccines, Testing, and Medical Supply Chain" offering concrete recommendations on how the federal government can ensure a more robust national response to the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding access to vaccines, tests, and critical medical supplies. Premier recommends specific actions Congress and the administration can take to create incentives for domestic manufacturing, strengthen the Strategic National Stockpile, accelerate vaccinations, improve the integrity of the supply chain and achieve sustainable approaches to environmental issues impacting patient care. Finally, Premier calls for real-time automated clinical surveillance to provide an upstream alternative to identifying cases before tests can detect them or patients are hospitalized.
Yesterday, Premier also submitted a statement for the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations’ hearing titled “No Time to Lose: Solutions to Increase COVID-19 Vaccinations in the States,” focusing on steps Congress and the Administration can take to address the systemic issues limiting the vaccine rollout.
Finally, for tomorrow’s Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee hearing on "Safeguarding American Consumers: Fighting Fraud and Scams During the Pandemic,” Premier recommends in a statement for the record the creation of a centralized clearing house to vet gray market offers and test products to help strengthen and maintain the integrity of the supply chain during this and future pandemics.
