Premier Presses Congress to Stop Medicare PAYGO Cuts
Premier joined forces with seven other hospital and healthcare organizations to urge Congress to waive the statutory pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) sequester requirements, which would result in a 4 percent Medicare fee-for-service cut to hospital providers next year. In a letter to Congressional leaders, Premier and the groups warn that the estimated $10 billion in payment reductions, on top of other impending Medicare cuts, the continued pandemic and increased costs, are not sustainable and would put patient care at risk.
