Premier Urges Senate to Advance Cybersecurity, Privacy, and Innovation in Healthcare
Premier submitted a statement for a July 9 Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee hearing entitled, “Securing the Future of Health Care: Enhancing Cybersecurity and Protecting Americans’ Privacy.” In its comments, Premier expressed support for common-sense technology-related policies to help patients and providers unlock lower costs, better value care and improved patient outcomes – while also defending critical healthcare systems from cyber threats and protecting the privacy of sensitive patient data. To secure the future of healthcare, Premier encouraged the committee to:
Unlock innovation and build patient trust through a federal privacy law;
Build cybersecurity regulations around specificity, evolvability, and maturity; and,
Put securing patient care ahead of checkbox cybersecurity compliance.
