Premier Statement for the Record for House Oversight and Reform Committee Hearing on the Black Maternal Health Crisis

Premier submitted a statement for the record for tomorrow’s House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing titled “Birthing While Black: Examining America’s Black Maternal Health Crisis”
underscoring the need for reliable data to understand the root causes of maternal morbidity and mortality among Black women. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Women’s Health (OWH) has tapped into Premier’s extensive data to understand why disparate maternal outcomes occur. Premier shared with the Committee its latest analysis leveraging data representing 25 percent of all U.S. births. Premier will be using those insights to work in partnership with the OWH to test and scale proven practices to improve maternal-infant care across hospitals nationwide.
