Premier Statement in Response to Remarks by Vice President Harris on Improving Maternal Health Outcomes
By Blair Childs, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs
The Biden-Harris Administration’s swift approval of state waivers to extend Medicaid coverage for postpartum women from two to 12 months is a critical step in improving the care of mothers and babies. We applaud the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for supporting these efforts by 14 states, D.C. and the additional states seeking to close coverage gaps. These actions help ensure that women can access screenings, exams, vaccinations and other healthcare services for a full year after giving birth.
Premier is proud to be working with this administration to use standardized data and best practice sharing across 220 hospitals from every state to identify and scale practices that improve maternal and infant outcomes.
