Premier Statement on Proposed Rural Emergency Hospital Provider Type

Premier appreciates the Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services (CMS) proposing a new Medicare Provider designation to ensure patients in rural areas have equal access to emergency and certain outpatient services, including maternal and behavioral health services. Programs such as this are important steps forward in addressing disparities in care. Premier looks forward to working with our members to evaluate the Rural Emergency Hospital provider type and helping CMS refine its proposal.
