Premier Supports Bipartisan Prior Authorization Bill
Premier joined other members of the Regulatory Relief Coalition in sending a letter of support for legislation to relieve the burdens of prior authorization in Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plans that interfere with patient care. The bipartisan Reducing Medically Unnecessary Delays in Care Act of 2025 (H.R. 2433), introduced by Reps. Mark Green, MD (R-TN) and Kim Schrier (D-WA), would require that all prior authorizations and adverse determinations be made by a licensed physician who is board certified in the specialty relevant to the healthcare item or service requested. It would also require plans to create policies based on medical necessity and written clinical criteria.
