Premier Urges Congress to Reauthorize Emergency Preparedness Programs

Premier joined 111 other healthcare organizations in urging House and Senate leaders to reauthorize the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act (PAHPA) before the end of the year. Authorization for most of PAHPA expired Sept. 30, 2023 with some stop-gap measures funded through the continuing resolutions. In a letter to the lawmakers, the groups call on Congress to work in a bipartisan manner to include a comprehensive reauthorization of PAHPA in a legislative package before the end of the 118th Congress. Premier and the other organizations warn that failing to reauthorize PAHPA would have a serious impact on the nation’s economic wellbeing, national security and ability to respond to the next public health crisis.
