Premier Urges Congressional Support for Health Workforce Legislation

In a letter to Congressional leaders, Premier joined more than 30 additional organizations in urging House and Senate leaders to include the bipartisan Conrad State 30 and Physician Access Reauthorization Act (H.R. 4942/S. 665) and the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act (H.R. 6205/S. 3211) in any year-end legislative package. The letter highlights the critical role the Conrad 30 waiver has played for over three decades in attracting international medical graduates to serve in rural and underserved communities. The letter also underscores the need to pass the Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act, which would initiate a one-time recapture of up to 40,000 unused employment-based visas – 25,000 for foreign-born nurses and 15,000 for foreign-born physicians – so they can strengthen and provide stability to the US healthcare system.
