Premier Urges HHS to Renew Declaration of Public Health Emergency

Premier joined 8 other national hospital organizations in asking HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra to renew the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) to ensure the continuation of important waivers, flexibilities and enhanced Medicaid funding as the pandemic persists. In a letter to Becerra, the groups underscored the continued challenges healthcare providers face related to workforce shortages and staff burnout, disruptions in the supply chain, the need for further clinical guidance on COVID-19 treatments for long COVID-19 patients and caring for patients who have deferred care as well as those suffering from acute behavioral health issues due to the pandemic.
