Premier commends Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Tim Scott (R-SC), along with Representatives Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN) and Terri Sewell (D-AL) for their bipartisan, bicameral leadership in introducing the Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act (S. 1058/H.R. 2172). This critical legislation seeks to expand access to home infusion services for Medicare beneficiaries, ensuring patients receive the care they need in a safe and convenient setting – their own homes.
With America’s aging population driving increased demand for care outside traditional hospital settings, home infusion plays a pivotal role in improving outcomes for vulnerable patients. For many seniors and individuals with chronic conditions, receiving infusion therapies at home reduces unnecessary hospital visits, minimizes exposure to infections, and enhances comfort – all while lowering costs and respecting patient choice. However, persistently low utilization of home infusion services among Medicare beneficiaries underscores the urgent need for reform.
The Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act would establish adequate reimbursement for home infusion services, strengthening access to this vital, high-quality care option.
Premier urges Congress to act swiftly in passing this legislation to ensure Medicare beneficiaries can continue receiving life-saving infusion therapies in a setting that supports their health and well-being.
