Statement on the the Senate HELP Committee Approval of the PREVENT Pandemics Act
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee took a critical step today to leverage COVID’s lessons so as to better respond to future pandemics by approving the bipartisan Prepare for and Respond to Existing Viruses, Emerging New Threats, and Pandemics Act (PREVENT Pandemics Act) (S. 3799).
The bill includes many of Premier’s recommendations around strengthening the Strategic National Stockpile, mitigating drug and device shortages, and maintaining supply chain integrity. We look forward to partnering with Senators Cassidy and Hassan as they work to advance the bipartisan Medical and Health Stockpile Accountability Act of 2022 in alignment with recommendations from the GAO and Business Executives for National Security. Premier urges continued movement on this important legislative agenda before the end of this Congress.
