Premier Asks Congress to Avoid Medicaid DSH Cuts

Premier joined eight other national hospital organizations in urging Congressional leaders to stop the reductions to the Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) program that are scheduled to begin in the new fiscal year. It is estimated that hospitals in the Medicaid DSH program would face $8 billion in reductions starting on Oct. 1, 2025.

In a letter, Premier and the other hospital groups asked House and Senate leaders to prevent these cuts, warning that such reductions would jeopardize access to essential services for vulnerable communities and exacerbate financial challenges for safety-net hospitals.
