Premier joined 333 other organizations in urging swift action by Congress to preserve and expand access to telehealth services for Medicare beneficiaries. In a letter addressed to House and Senate leaders, Premier and the other groups emphasized the critical role telehealth has played in ensuring continuity of care over the past five years and advocated for either permanent authorization or, at minimum, a two-year extension of Medicare telehealth provisions set to expire this September.
Premier and other signatories highlighted three key benefits of extending telehealth access:
Certainty for Medicare beneficiaries who rely on virtual care
Support for the healthcare workforce through flexible staffing models
Investment in technology infrastructure, especially for rural and underserved communities
The letter applauds recent legislative action securing telehealth access in the commercial market and calls on Congress to do the same for Medicare. Premier’s endorsement underscores its commitment to advancing high-quality care through innovative solutions.
