CaringWays, Premier Inc.’s PINC AI™ Applied Sciences (PAS) and Strategic Collaboratives Teams Partner to Advance Health Equity Nationwide

Charlotte, NC (July 12, 2023) ─ CaringWays, a private carefunding platform that partners directly with organizations, is collaborating with Premier Inc.’s PINC AI™ Applied Sciences (PAS) and Premier’s Strategic Collaboratives teams to advance health equity.
The partnership will raise funds to support projects in the following focus areas:
- Supplement an advisory committee of stakeholders which will guide the strategic vision for the PINC AI™ Health Equity Collaborative.
- Leverage standardized and connected data analytics and a cross-functional stakeholder forum to identify priority patient populations.
- Host national and regional events to better understand health equity efforts underway and work to scale effective solutions across the nation.
- Design and conduct critical research projects to help test and pilot interventions focused on factors that contribute to health inequities including mental health, maternal and infant health, impact of cancer care, neurodegenerative conditions and social drivers of health (SDOH), which, according to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), are “the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship and age” that affect a wide range of health, functioning and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.
“This partnership with CaringWays will create opportunities to generate funds to support hospital, health system, community and life sciences organizations’ efforts to advance health equity,” said Denise Juliano, Life Sciences Group Vice President, PAS. “We share a mission to close all gaps in care, including poverty, race, gender, geography. No matter their background, everyone is entitled to high quality care in their communities. Together with CaringWays, PAS will leverage funds to support the utilization of real-world data, improve research efforts, enhance clinical trial programs and generate actionable real-world evidence to inform evidence-based interventions and pilot programs aimed at helping to eliminate health inequities across the nation.”
As part of this partnership, PAS, Premier’s Strategic Collaboratives and CaringWays will work together to establish opportunities to award hospitals and health systems fully-funded memberships to the PINC AI™ Health Equity Collaborative.
Members of the PINC AI™ Health Equity Collaborative participate in knowledge sharing, learn from early adopters of health equity implementation strategies and devise unique health equity indices to help drive the elimination in health inequities in their communities. They will evaluate health equity efforts underway across differentiated health systems, leverage data that supports best practices and have the opportunity to provide input on public policies.
The funded opportunity will be made available to hospitals and health systems that submit documentation of ongoing health equity work, including a Health Equity Plan, Community Health Needs Assessment and/or a Community Health Improvement plan and indication of interest to collaborate in research. Health systems granted awards also commit to participate in Premier’s PINC AI™ Health Equity Collaborative to drive improvement in helping to eliminate inequities and engaging with other collaborative members.
Each participating organization:
- Receives a proprietary hospital or health-system Health Equity Assessment.
- Shares relevant anonymized and/or de-identified health equity data in order to benchmark improvement efforts.
- Engages in shared learning about initiatives that promote health equity.
- Accesses leading practices from nationally renowned subject matter experts.
- Explores innovations that will improve health equity and potentially advance federal policy.
Hospitals and health systems interested in applying for an award opportunity should complete this form for more information. Applications will be available later this summer and awardees will be selected and notified once funding has been secured, estimated to be this fall or winter. Precedence will be given to members of America’s Essential Hospitals and other organizations that participate at the national, state and local level in health equity efforts.
In addition to the award, the partnership will focus on standardizing SDOH data collections, enhancing patient-specific social needs data, and creating a Health Equity Index for use in hospitals and health systems across the nation aimed at supporting peer-to-peer benchmarking, improving care for populations that have been historically marginalized and guiding advocacy efforts that could impact legislative policies.
“We’re pleased to partner with PINC AI™ Applied Sciences and Premier’s Strategic Collaboratives to leverage our combined expertise to enable the sharing and deployment of best practices to improve care in all communities,” said Ronn Hollis, Co-Founder of CaringWays. “We need companies to join us at the table to create informed funded solutions to combat some of the toughest problems faced by their communities.”

The combination of Premier's capabilities, strengths of the PINC AI™ platform combined with CaringWays’ innovative philanthropy, paves the way for new research possibilities and advancements in health equity.
