Large Health Systems
There are three ways in which a health system is defined as large in size: 1) have greater than or equal to 5 billion in aggregate of their system hospitals' total operating expenses; 2) greater than or equal to 3 billion in system hospitals' total operating expenses AND system hospitals reside in three or more U.S. states; 3) greater than or equal to 3 billion in system hospitals' total operating expenses AND system owns five or more short-term, acute care, general hospitals.
