The HHS Perinatal Collaborative powered by Premier's Quality Enterprise data, is a multi-year national collaborative representing more than 500,000 births per year. Leverages standardized data and performance improvement methodology to implement evidence-based interventions and advance health equity across maternal and neonatal care.
Collaborative members and researchers partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to co-develop a new maternal prenatal risk index, designed to more accurately identify pregnant patients at risk for serious complications during childbirth. Notably, 97 percent of patients with severe maternal complications also had a detectable risk score on the index, highlighting opportunities for earlier identification, earlier intervention, improved care planning and enhanced maternal health outcomes.
Participating hospitals reduced delivery-visit mortality by 41.5 percent across more than 2.6 million deliveries, significantly outperforming benchmark hospitals.
