PINC AI™ Applied Sciences(PAS) and AstraZeneca, along with their partner Clinithink, have been chosen as the BWB Awards winner for innovative use of technology-enabled healthcare solutions in the Digital Medicine category.
The BWB Awards at Biotech Week Boston recognizes top individuals, companies and organizations in the life sciences community. They highlight biology breakthroughs, digital medicine innovation, diversity and inclusion champions, as well as stand-out startups, accelerators and world-class research and development incubator programs.
The awards took place in partnership with charity sponsor Best Buddies, a dynamic growing organization working to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The team received the BWB Award in Digital Medicine for bold and innovative creation or use of technology-enabled healthcare solutions that are propelling technology forward and solving a healthcare need.
Oncology care is continually evolving requiring innovative, tech-enabled solutions to propel patient care forward. The PAS team answered the challenge through their work with AstraZeneca and Clinithink in oncology care and pulmonary nodule management.
The PAS team utilized Clinithink’s natural language processing (NLP) technology along with its evidence and quality improvement methods to evaluate the patient care journey and to develop actionable tools for healthcare teams across the country.
PAS and their healthcare and technology partners are driven to improve patient care and outcomes by bridging the gap between life science innovations and implementation in real-world care.
The PAS team provides the life sciences industry with unique solutions to identify gaps, standardize care, inform clinical research and advance health equity, ultimately accelerating value through evidence.
Winning this award positions PAS at the forefront of tech-enabled solutions, adding to their unmatched capabilities in structured data and analytics. PAS capabilities include:
- Tech-enabled solutions – PAS is using a combination of natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) technology, through their partner Clinithink, to deliver the fastest, most accurate analysis of unstructured data across patient populations. This technology has the potential to read more than two million documents per hour and utilizes clinical NLP to recognize the myriad of ways clinicians describe conditions in real life. This technology complements the tremendous capabilities of the PAS team in structured data in which they utilize the PINC AI™ Healthcare Database (PHD).
- A HIPAA-compliant retrospective database – the PHD is filled with more than 20 years’ worth of de-identified data that includes cost, charge and outcomes data from more than 1,188 unique sites of care, spanning the continuum of care and encompassing visits from approximately 279 million unique patients. The PHD has fueled leading research conducted by the PAS team as well as U.S. governmental agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as other leading pharmaceutical, academia and device industries.
- Health equity solutions – The PINC AI™ Health Equity Collaborative will bring together clinicians, health systems and life sciences organizations to address the drivers of disparities and inequities and how to reduce them across all areas of healthcare, together.
With these tech-enabled solutions, PAS is cultivating strategic partnerships between life sciences companies and health systems to co-innovate solutions and strategies that transform healthcare.
PAS believes healthcare is about doing what’s right and what’s best for communities. To accomplish this, healthcare needs tech-enablement. PINC AI™ technology is powering the future of healthcare through a combination of data, technology, services and scale, all designed to optimize provider performance at every point.
We’re proud of our collaborative work and efforts around oncology care, pulmonary nodule management and for the future of oncology – and we’re honored to be recognized with AstraZeneca and Clinithink as a 2022 BWB Awards winner in Digital Medicine.
